Ingredients
Scale
- 125 g mascarpone cheese, approx ½ US cup
- 100 g sugar, approx ½ US cup
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 egg
- 250 g all purpose flour, approx 2 US cups
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 125 g mascarpone cheese, approx ½ US cup
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the mascarpone cheese, sugar, orange zest, and egg until creamy and smooth.
- Sift in the flour and baking powder gradually, mixing by hand to create a soft dough.
- Lightly dust your hands with powdered sugar and form small balls, about 24 grams each. Place them on a parchment-lined baking tray and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F) or 150°C (300°F) with the fan option on. Position the baking tray in the middle shelf.
- Bake the cookies for 17 minutes, or until they are slightly golden. Remove from oven and transfer to a cooling rack.
- Once cooled, sprinkle with powdered sugar or top with half a teaspoon of mascarpone cream before serving.
Notes
For best results, ensure the mascarpone cheese is at room temperature before mixing.
Experiment with different flavors by adding chocolate chips or nuts to the dough.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
